ABOUT

I started Recentre Therapy as a way of making therapy accessible and to offer clients a place to speak freely and experience the benefits of a non-judgmental, supportive environment. Regular therapy builds resilience and can encourage positive change, and acceptance of what has gone before. I am passionate about providing my clients with a warm, accepting, and compassionate space where they feel heard and understood no matter what they bring.

I have a calm and empathic presence which helps clients feel supported and heard. I understand how vulnerable clients can feel sharing their innermost thoughts and feelings and make it my highest priority to work in a client-led, ethical and respectful manner which builds trust and connection.

I am predominantly a Person-centred Experiential (PCET) Counsellor and believe the therapeutic relationship contributes hugely to the healing for clients. I also integrate mindfulness-based CBT to help clients cope better with depression, anxiety, and toxic thought patterns, as well as Transactional Analysis (TA) for those struggling with relational issues. I take the whole person into account and help clients reflect and explore past experiences and old beliefs and conditions that are no longer serving them, moving forward and building self-esteem and a stronger sense of belonging.

I am also a certified clinical trauma professional which means I can work safely with clients who have suffered trauma and CPTSD.

I have a particular interest in Bereavement Counselling and working with loss on many levels. I volunteered for several years as a Bereavement Counsellor at a local Hospice and saw the benefits to those who access the service, not just around processing and grieving their loss, but also in the wider connecting issues affecting their own lives and finding a way forward after the loss. I also understand how to support and work with clients sensitively and empathically in coming to terms with receiving a terminal illness diagnosis.

After the pandemic, many clients struggle with complex issues around loss and their own fears of dying or being ill. I am able to handle these issues compassionately and walk alongside clients to process the pain and grief of these events and find a lasting connection with their loved ones and a new way to continue living.

Often bereavement can also stir anger and resentment and clients may feel shame around their responses. Again, I am able to hold a safe space for clients to explore these feelings and not feel that it is wrong or abnormal.

As a registered member of the BACP, I fully adhere to their ethical framework and work in service and always to the benefit of my clients. I regularly commit to independent training to further enhance my skills and keep up to date with current research. I also commit to regular supervision in keeping with regulations.

I believe that each person can thrive and grow with some help and understanding. I strive to help clients find balance in their lives and actualise their full potential to gain peace around painful issues that limit their outlook and joy in life.

The curious paradox is when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change.
